Custom software

Software that fits how your business actually runs

Off the shelf software makes you work its way. We build the tools that run your business the way you actually run it: scheduling, inspections, handbooks, approvals, one login for the whole company. Most of it starts from systems we built for our own shuttle company and still use every day.

Why custom software stopped being expensive

Five years ago custom software meant a six figure quote and a year of meetings. Businesses settled for a stack of subscriptions that almost fit, plus spreadsheets to cover the gaps. That math changed. AI coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor let a small team build and change software at a pace that used to take a department, and hosting that once needed a server room is now a small monthly line item.

The other change is us. 761 grew out of Slidr, an electric shuttle company, and we built our own operating hub, scheduling, driver inspections, support tickets and reporting because nothing on the market fit. Every one of those is a working system we can rebuild for a different business. You are not paying for the first version. You are paying for the version that fits you.

What we actually build

Internal tools for the people who run things, with the office and the field on one database.

  • An operating hub. One login that replaces the scheduling app, the shared spreadsheet, the group text and the three inboxes: schedule, people, equipment, issues and leads in one place, with roles for who sees what.
  • Scheduling for shifts and crews, with availability, time off and open shift requests built in.
  • Inspection and incident apps. A pre and post shift walkaround on a phone with photos, timestamps and a record that protects you.
  • Interactive handbooks filtered by location and role, replacing the PDF nobody reads.
  • Intake and approval flows for applicants, requests and work orders.
  • Reporting inside the tool, so the numbers come from the system of record and not from someone retyping them.

How it runs

We start with a short audit of how the work actually flows: who touches what, where the spreadsheet lives, which text thread holds the real schedule. You get a map of the process and a recommendation for what to build first, which is usually smaller than you expect.

Then a fixed price build. We start from the closest proven base, rename and reshape it for your business, and verify it on a live preview with your real people before anything goes to production. Weeks, not months. The code lives in your repository, the app runs in your hosting account and the database is yours.

On the retainer we add the next piece, fix what you find in use, and keep the dependencies current. You can stop at any time and keep everything running.

Who this is for

  • An operator running schedules, inspections and a handbook across three apps and a group text
  • A hospitality or transportation company that needs field staff and the office looking at the same record
  • A trade business that has outgrown its spreadsheets and does not want to adopt a platform built for someone else
  • A firm with a process that lives in one person's head and needs to survive that person's vacation

Questions owners ask

Is custom software really cheaper than a subscription?

Often yes over a few years, and we tell you when it is not. Subscriptions scale with seats and add ons, and you never stop paying. A build is a fixed price and then an optional retainer. Where a good off the shelf product fits your business, we will say so and help you set it up instead.

What is an operating hub?

One application with one login where the office runs the company: schedule, staff, vehicles or equipment, inspections, support issues, leads and a daily brief. It replaces the pile of tools that each hold a slice of the picture. Managers see their location, admins see everything, and the data lives in one database.

What do you build with?

Claude Code and Cursor for the building, Node.js with Next.js and React where an app needs them, Supabase for the database and logins, and Vercel for hosting. Lovable for fast internal tools. Playwright to test on the live preview before anything ships. All of it is mainstream, so another developer can pick it up if you ever want one to.

How do you keep the build from dragging on?

By starting from working software, not a blank page, and by shipping in slices. The first slice goes live in weeks, your team uses it, and what they find shapes the next one. Every change is verified on a live preview, not a laptop, before it reaches production. Scope is written down at the start and priced fixed.

Who owns the code?

You do. The repository is in your account, the hosting and database are in your accounts, and the documentation ships with it. We ask for access to do the work, and that access is yours to revoke. Owning your software means you are never stuck with the vendor, including us.
