Weekly website health check
A 15 minute Monday routine that catches broken forms, dead pages and dropped rankings before they cost you a month of leads. Run it from your phone and a laptop with nothing installed.
Who it is for: The owner or office manager who is responsible for the website but is not technical
Websites break quietly. A form stops sending, a plugin update hides the phone number, Google drops a page, and nobody notices until the leads dry up. This checklist is the routine we run on every site we manage, trimmed to what an owner can do alone.
Gather first
- Your login for Google Search Console (the free Google tool that reports how your site shows up in search).
- Your login for Google Analytics 4 or Microsoft Clarity, whichever you have.
- The email address your contact form sends to.
How to use it
Block 15 minutes on Monday. Work the list top to bottom and put a check or an X next to each item. Any X goes into a note to whoever maintains your site, with the item number and what you saw.
What good looks like
Most weeks every item passes and you are done in ten minutes. The value is the one week in eight when item 3 or item 9 fails and you catch it on Monday instead of at the end of the month.
1. Open your homepage on your phone over cell data, not wifi. It loads in under three seconds and nothing overlaps or hangs off the screen. 2. Tap the phone number in the header. It opens the dialer with the right number. 3. Submit your contact form with a test message that says TEST and today's date. The email arrives in your inbox within two minutes, and the thank you page or message appears. 4. Click every link in the main menu and the footer. No page shows "404", "Not found" or a blank screen. 5. Open your two most important service pages. Prices, hours, service area and staff names on them are still true. 6. Search Google for your business name. Your site is the first result and the Google Business Profile panel shows the right hours, phone and address. 7. Search Google for your main service plus your city (for example "cabinet maker Boca Raton"). Note where your site and your profile appear. Compare to last week. 8. In Google Search Console, open Pages under Indexing. The count of indexed pages has not dropped since last week and there are no new errors. 9. In Search Console, open Performance. Total clicks for the last 7 days are in the same range as the previous 7 days. A drop of more than a third gets written down. 10. In Google Analytics 4 or Clarity, confirm visitors were recorded every day this week. A day with zero means tracking broke. 11. Open your newest blog post or case study. The date, images and author display correctly. 12. Check that the padlock icon shows next to your address in the browser. If it says "Not secure", your security certificate lapsed. 13. Look at the reviews on your Google Business Profile. Reply to any new review, good or bad, in two or three plain sentences. 14. Check your inbox and spam folder for form submissions from the past week that went unanswered. Reply today. 15. Write down anything that failed, with the item number, and send it to whoever maintains the site.
