Measuring

Google Analytics 4 GA4

Google's free tool for measuring website traffic and behavior. It replaced the older Universal Analytics and is built around events (what people did) rather than page views alone.

Why it matters for your business

It tells you where visitors come from and what they do, and it connects to Google Ads and Search Console. It is powerful and confusing out of the box. The useful version has a few conversion events set up and a simple report built on top.

In practice

A landscaper's GA4 is set up to count quote form submissions and phone taps as conversions. A monthly dashboard shows those two numbers by source, and nothing else.
