Why it matters for your business
A site that is down at 8 pm on Sunday loses the weekend leads and you never know it happened. Good hosting keeps uptime high, and a monitor tells you the moment something breaks, so you hear it from the monitor and not from a customer.
In practice
A hotel's booking page is checked every minute. When the payment provider has an outage, the owner gets a text within minutes and puts a notice on the page before guests hit an error.
