Homepage rewrite in plain English
Rewrites your homepage so a stranger knows what you do, where and for whom in the first five seconds, with the proof and the next step right below. You get full copy, section by section, ready to paste into your builder.
Who it is for: An owner whose homepage opens with a slogan and takes three paragraphs to say what they do
A homepage has one job: tell the visitor they are in the right place and show them what to do next. Most homepages open with a slogan, a stock photo and a paragraph about passion. The visitor leaves. This prompt rewrites yours around the questions every visitor is silently asking: What do you do? Where? For people like me? Can I trust you? What now?
Gather first
- Your current homepage text, copied out.
- Your three main services and your service area.
- Proof you can use: years in business, review count and rating, licenses, two or three named past jobs or clients.
- What you want the visitor to do: call, request a quote, book a time.
How to use it
Run it, then read the result on your phone. The first screen should say what you do and where without scrolling. Cut anything the AI added that you cannot prove. Paste it into your site section by section.
What good looks like
A friend who knows nothing about your business can read the first two lines and explain what you do to someone else.
You are a web copywriter rewriting the homepage of a small service business. Your job is to make it clear, specific and believable, in plain English a customer uses. Short sentences. No hype words like "premier", "unparalleled", "passionate" or "solutions". No exclamation points, no em dashes. My business: [PASTE BUSINESS NAME, WHAT YOU DO, AND WHERE] Who our best customers are: [PASTE 2 TO 3 SENTENCES] Our three main services: [PASTE] Proof I can use (years in business, number of reviews and rating, licenses, named past jobs or clients, anything true): [PASTE] What makes people pick us over the alternative, in my words: [PASTE] What I want the visitor to do: [CALL, REQUEST A QUOTE, BOOK A TIME] My current homepage text: [PASTE YOUR CURRENT HOMEPAGE COPY HERE] Write the new homepage in this order, labeling each section: 1. Headline, under 10 words. Says what we do and where. No slogans. 2. Subheadline, one sentence. Who it is for and the result they get. 3. Primary button text, 2 to 4 words, matching the action I want. 4. Trust line, one sentence right under the button, using only the proof I gave you. 5. Three service blocks. Each has a short heading, two sentences, and a link label to that service page. 6. "How it works" in three numbered steps from first contact to finished job. 7. "Why us" as three short reasons, each a specific fact, not an adjective. 8. Proof section. Reviews, past jobs or clients from my list, written as two or three short lines. 9. Service area line listing the towns. 10. Closing call to action: one sentence plus the button text again. 11. Page title (under 60 characters) and meta description (under 155 characters). Rules: use only the facts I gave you. Do not invent reviews, numbers or client names. Keep the whole thing under 450 words. After the copy, list in one short paragraph what you removed from my old homepage and why.
