Software and apps

Authentication

How software confirms who is logging in: password, email link, text code, Google sign in. Authorization is the related step of deciding what that person is allowed to see and do.

Why it matters for your business

Weak login is the most common way a small business gets breached. Modern tools make strong login easy: passwordless links, two factor codes, single sign on. Role based permissions mean a driver sees the driver screen and the owner sees everything.

In practice

A landscaper's CRM lets crews sign in with a text code to their phone, no passwords to forget. Only the owner and office manager can see pricing and payroll.
