Core Web Vitals and page speed

Google's three measurements of how a page feels to use: how fast the main content shows up, how quickly it reacts to a tap, and whether things jump around while loading.

Why it matters for your business

Slow or jumpy pages lose visitors before they read a word, and Google uses these scores as part of ranking. Page speed is the big one. Oversized images, heavy plugins and cheap hosting are the usual causes.

In practice

A landscaper's site loads slowly on a phone because every photo is full size. Resizing the images and moving to better hosting brings the scores into the green.
