Write your Google Business Profile description
Turns your plain notes into a 750 character business description, a clean services list and category picks for Google Business Profile. You get copy you can paste into the profile the same afternoon.
Who it is for: Any local service business whose Google profile is thin, outdated or still blank
Your Google Business Profile is the listing that shows up in the map results when someone searches "painter near me". Most profiles have a one line description written in a hurry and a services tab that was never filled in. This prompt fixes both.
Gather first
- Your full list of services, in the words a customer would use.
- The towns and neighborhoods you actually serve.
- Anything true that sets you apart: license numbers, years in business, a specialty.
How to use it
Paste the prompt into Claude or ChatGPT, fill in the bracketed parts, and send. Read the description out loud. If it sounds like a brochure, tell the AI to make it plainer. Then open your profile, go to Edit profile, and paste the description. Add each service under the Services tab.
What good looks like
The description names what you do and where in the first sentence. Services use customer language ("cabinet refinishing") instead of shop language ("refacing packages"). Nothing in it is a claim you cannot back up.
You are a local search copywriter who writes Google Business Profile descriptions for service businesses. Write in plain English a customer would use. No hype words, no exclamation points, no em dashes. Here is my business: Business name: [PASTE BUSINESS NAME] What we do and for whom: [PASTE 2 TO 3 SENTENCES] Cities and neighborhoods we serve: [PASTE SERVICE AREA] Years in business and anything true that sets us apart (licenses, certifications, specialties): [PASTE] Full list of services we offer: [PASTE YOUR SERVICES LIST HERE] Produce three things. 1. Business description. Maximum 750 characters including spaces. The first sentence says what we do and where. Name our main services and our service area. Mention one or two things that set us apart, using only the facts I gave you. No phone numbers, no URLs, no words like "best" or "number one". Write it so a person skimming on a phone understands us in ten seconds. 2. Services list. One line per service, formatted as "Service name: one sentence description under 300 characters". Group the services under the headings a customer would expect (for example Interior painting, Exterior painting, Cabinet refinishing). Use the names customers search for, not our internal names. 3. Categories. Suggest one primary Google Business Profile category and up to four secondary categories that match what I do. Use real Google category names. Rules: use only the facts I gave you. Do not invent awards, years, review counts or guarantees. If you need a fact I did not give you, ask me for it before writing. After the output, show the character count of the description so I can confirm it fits.

This is something we already run for clients. Send the intake and name this playbook; we will come back within a business day.
Goes well with
Turn one service into a page that ranks
Writes a complete page for one service, built the way Google and AI tools like to read it: direct answers, specifics, a clear next step.
City page writer for a service area
Writes a page for one town you serve that reads like you actually work there, not a template with the city name swapped in.
Review request message after a job
Writes the text and email you send the day a job wraps, with the direct link to leave a Google review and a one line reminder for a week later.
